The Old Orchard Hall in Port Moody will be the venue for an all-candidates forum on Sept. 22, 2022, hosted by the Pleasantside Community Association.

There's another all-candidates meeting on the agenda for Port Moody's municipal election — set for Oct. 15, 2022.

And although its the third scheduled forum, it'll be the first to take place ahead of the civic election.

The Pleasantside Community Association (PCA) is set to host a forum on Thursday (Sept. 22) for local residents to hear from mayoral and councillor nominees and why they think they deserve their vote.

According to PCA spokesperson David Lank, both candidates for mayor — Meghan Lahti and Steve Milani — are set to attend the meeting.

As well, 12 of the 14 council hopefuls have confirmed to be attending the event, as of this publication (Sept. 19):

  • Richard Biedka
  • Dustin Chelen
  • Johann Contreras
  • Eric Davis
  • Diana Dilworth
  • Barbara Junker
  • Amy Lubik
  • Haven Lurbiecki
  • Hunter Madsen
  • Callan Morrison
  • Dawn Slykhuis
  • David Stuart

The PCA explained Samantha Agtarap and Kyla Knowles cited conflicting schedules prevented them from attending the event.

Lank explained the forum is set to be "informative and respectful" as the 66-year-old association has put together a list of "focused," pre-determined questions.

Constituents wishing to attend will also be given a chance to ask questions to the candidates.

The PCA's all-candidates meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 7 p.m. at Old Orchard Hall (646 Bentley Rd.).

Meanwhile, the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Port Moody council debate from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Dr.).

The Residents of Pleasantside Ioco Communities Association (TROPICA) will also be utilizing Old Orchard Hall for a mayoral debate and school trustee candidate meet-and-greet on Sept. 29, 7 to 9:30 p.m.

As well, the group will host its own city council candidates debate on Oct. 6, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the same venue.
