Here's where Tri-City residents can get a COVID-19 vaccine on 'Walk-in Wednesday'

You can get a first or second dose with no appointment needed at one of Fraser Health's two designated locations in Coquitlam.

Fraser Health hosted a pop-up immunization clinic at Port Moody's Rocky Point Park on July 17, 2021.

If you're still waiting for a first or second jab of a COVID-19 vaccine, tomorrow (Aug. 4) is your chance to receive either-or.

The province's Vax for B.C. initiative is continuing to encourage as many residents as possible to get immunized by hosting what it calls "Walk-in Wednesday."

The campaign is allowing any eligible person aged 12 years and older to walk into a designated vaccination clinic and receive either a Pfizer or Moderna dose — no appointment necessary.

This applies to those still in need of a first dose and those waiting for a second dose after they were vaccinated on or before June 16, 2021.

The public is asked to bring a piece of photo ID, as well as an immunization record card to the clinic of choice if it's your second jab.

WHERE CAN I GO IN THE TRI-CITIES?

There are two COVID-19 vaccine clinics where "Walk-in Wednesday" will take place — both in Coquitlam:

  • Coquitlam Central Station Park and Ride overflow lot (2900 Barnet Hwy.)
  • 9:45 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Entrance off Mariner Way – east side of Rona. Proceed down the ramp and turn right
    • The address will direct you to the main lot on the left but COVID-19 Services are located in the overflow lot to the right
    • Do not cut through the Rona parking lot. Please follow the signs

In each location, doses will be administered as capacity and supplies allow, according to Fraser Health.

Additionally, the authority will be setting up at Cineplex Cinemas in Coquitlam on Friday (Aug. 6) for a "special event" clinic through the Vax for B.C. campaign.

Nurses and healthcare workers are set to distribute vaccines between 3 and 7 p.m. for popcorn-munching movie-goers wanting to get a first dose.

If you've been jabbed once already, and it's been more than seven weeks since, you can drop-in for your second dose as well.

As of this publication (Aug. 3), provincial data show 3,773,442 British Columbians with at least one dose of vaccine, and 3,121,311 people being fully vaccinated with two doses of vaccine.

The government estimates that this translates into 81.4% of the eligible population being vaccinated at least once, and 67.3% of the eligible population being vaccinated twice.

The B.C. government's most recent estimate of the province's total population is 5,147,712, so that means that about 73.3% of B.C.'s total population has had at least one dose of vaccine, and 58.5% of the province's total population has had two doses.
