SHARE Family and Community Service CEO Claire MacLean enjoys "Merry Mocktails" with her family.

The Christmas season is about family, friends and fellowship. It’s also about food — from grand feasts of turkey and stuffing to boundless snacks stretching our belts.

In the spirit of the holidays, the Tri-City News recently asked some of the people you read about to share their favourite must-try recipes.

The holidays are a wonderful time for gathering and celebrating, but they can also be really challenging for folks who have difficult relationships with food, alcohol and other substances.

Our family likes to have delicious non-alcoholic options on hand for friends and family.

They are also a huge hit with our kids.

Ingredients/Directions

  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup sparkling water (you can substitute 7Up, Sprite or ginger ale for extra sweetness)
  • Splash of grenadine to taste (the MacLean kids recommend several splashes)

Mix all ingredients together and serve over ice.
