Saturday's Winter in the City event in Port Coquitlam, Dec. 2, 2023, is also the official launch of the annual Christmas tree festival that raises money for PoCo Heritage.

Christmas is coming to the square behind the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The free Winter in the City event runs from noon to 8 p.m., featuring live entertainment, an artisan market, and a beverage garden with beer from local craft brewers, as well as mulled wine, food vendors and, of course, photos with Santa.

The city's Christmas tree will also be lit up at 5 p.m.

In a news release, Port Coquitlam staff said Winter in the City serves as a kickoff for its 11th annual Christmas Tree Festival that raises money for PoCo Heritage.

From Dec. 2 to 15, residents can vote for their favourite tree that has been decorated by individuals, businesses or community groups.

The trees are on display at various locations around Port Coquitlam, including city hall, the PCCC, the Terry Fox Library, Hyde Creek Recreation Centre and PoCo Heritage Museum.

Visitors to Winter in the City can also win $250 worth of Port Coquitlam swag by taking a photo using one of three special Christmas frames set up around the event and posting it on social media by Dec. 18 with the @cityofpoco tag.

For more information, as well as a schedule of entertainers and vendors at the artisan market, you can visit the City of Port Coquitlam's website.
