Letter: Tri-Cities' has 'disintegrated' in the past five years

Nothing I moved to the Tri-Cities exists any longer and the region has disintegrated in such a short period of time that it is both shocking and, in some ways, frightening, the letter writer states.

The Editor:

I am always open to new alternatives and constructive solutions.

I moved to the Tri-Cities as the opportunities for both natural beauty, city community gardens and provincial parks existed in abundance.

In the last five years, BC Hydro has not only regulated access to Buntzen Lake but now requires reservations for parking.

Coquitlam’s Inspiration Garden will be destroyed for an entirely unacceptable length of time and hundreds of trees will be destroyed for the Coquitlam Water Main installation.

So much for climate control incentives.

The area around the Lafarge Lake–Douglas SkyTrain station has become a hub for protesters to gather and shout their message each Sunday afternoon.

In addition, there have been four gangland incidents since January 2024.

Nothing I moved to the Tri-Cities exists any longer and the region has disintegrated in such a short period of time that it is both shocking and, in some ways, frightening.

It appears that the plan for density without an effective regulatory body that is not influenced by avarice and short-sighted community planning is not existing.

Pity.
