Each year, a portion of proceeds from McDonald's sales on McHappy Day is donated to Ronald McDonald House and other children's charities in Canada.

Yes, it's the one day on the calendar you can eat all the McDonald's you want and feel good inside.

The fast-food chain's annual McHappy Day is set for tomorrow (May 10) to help families with sick kids stay together or longer during hospital treatments.

And this year, the business is not limiting donations from specific items.

A total of 10 Tri-Cities McDonald's restaurants are sending partial proceeds from all menu items sold Wednesday to Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) or other children's charities.

This means residents in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody can order their favourite meal, drink or snack and a portion of their money will go to regional non-profits.

There are two RMHC locations in B.C. — a Heather Street house in Vancouver, as well as a family room at Surrey Memorial Hospital.

"In an average year, RMHC across Canada supports over 26,000 families and we couldn’t do it without your help," the organization's website reads.

"With your support this McHappy Day, we can help more families from your community stay close, because when families stay together, sick children get stronger."

Since the first RMHC opened in 1981, more than 425,000 families have been supported.

And, since 2019, an RBC study calculated that families saved $48.3 million in out-of-pocket expenses like lodging and food.

McDonald's say it's offering many new ways for interested participants to contribute to McHappy Day for 2023.

Those that wish to order from home can do so through DoorDash, SkipTheDishes or Uber Eats and receive $0 deilvery fee on orders $20 or more.

Not hungry?

Donations can be made online where 100 per cent will go straight to RMHC and its programs.

You can also physically walk into a Tri-Cities location, donate $2, $5 or $10 and add a McHappy Day Heart to the building's wall as a sign of support.

As well, if you prefer to wear your food, McHappy Day-themed clothing is being sold in partnership with Peace Collective with proceeds going to charities, too.
