It's Good Friday today (April 15), which means the Easter long weekend has officially begun.

And young kids might be looking to see if a certain bunny came early with eggs, chocolate and candy to put in their 2022 basket.

In an effort ot bring the community together, Coquitlam Alliance Church (CAC) is hosting a pair of family-friendly outdoor Easter egg hunts on Saturday (April 16).

The fun is set to start in the morning at Glen Park, where kids up to 12 years old will be able to hunt for as many little treasures as they can find.

To keep up a safe environment, the event's description says interested participants are encouraged to bring their own basket and children will enter the designated play area in shifts.

As well, there will be a separate "safe hunting" section for those under three years old.

Later that day, CAC is setting up a second Easter celebration at Kyle Centre Park in Port Moody.

The church says, in addition to the egg hunt, there will be activities and stations for the whole family to enjoy.

This includes bouncy castles for kids between one-and-a-half to 11 years old, a cotton candy machine, Vashti Rose Ice Cream and coffee from Kaffi Espresso Bar.

The Coquitlam hunt in Glen Park is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

CAC will be set up in Port Moody from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
