Transit police say a suspect has been arrested after a call was made to the public to help identify him who allegedly exposed himself to a woman on a SkyTrain on Aug. 3, 2021.

A suspect who allegedly exposed himself to a woman on a SkyTrain he first boarded in Coquitlam is now in custody.

In an update today (Sept. 10), Metro Vancouver Transit Police (MVTP) said its public appeal for help identifying a suspect from surveillance photos led to an arrests.

No other information is being released at this time, including the suspect's name.

On Thursday (Sept. 9), the department explained the suspect first stepped on a SkyTrain at Coquitlam Central Station the night of Aug. 3 around 8:50 p.m.

About 100 minutes later, he allegedly exposed his genitals while masturbating in front of a woman sitting across from him. He left the train around 11:20 p.m. at Stadium Station in Vancouver.

Sgt. Clint Hampton said MVTP officers believe the suspect may have performed similar actions on other recent trips as well.

"Before and after the alleged incident, he rode trains for an extensive period of time along the Millennium Line and the Expo Line west of Commercial-Broadway, getting on and off trains and approaching multiple women, revealing a predatory nature to his actions," Hampton said in an earlier release.

He added transit police believe he may have subjected others to his actions, but they haven't reported the incidents.
