If you don't want to recycle your Halloween pumpkins, try smashing them.

Port Moody Fire Rescue is set to host its annual pumpkin smash tomorrow (Nov. 6) at its main hall.

Local residents are encouraged to bring their unwanted pumpkins behind the Inlet Centre Fire Hall — located at 150 Newport Dr.

There, they'll watch with excitement as fire fighters drop the gourds from the top of the hose tower to the pavement below.

The public event is set to be by donation only with all proceeds earmarked for local charity through the Port Moody Firefighters Charitable Society.

Fire fighters will be accepting cash, as well as non-perishables that'll go to SHARE Community and Family Services.

Port Moody Fire Rescue says it's going to be a drive-thru out of respect for public health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pumpkin smash is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
