It's Port Coquitlam's turn to celebrate Pride season and a new venue hopes to spark even more conversations and memories.

Pride in PoCo is moving to Lions Park (2300 Lions Way) for the city-organized event, scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon (July 22).

Supported by the B.C. government, the 2023 event is coinciding with Port Coquitlam's Music in the Park series as that day will feature three prominent performers from Metro Vancouver's LGBTQ2S+ community.

"Everyone is invited to attend this family-friendly event, which reflects Port Coquitlam’s commitment to removing barriers and developing welcoming, inclusive and safe places for the city's diverse populations, including the LGBT2SQ+ community and gender diverse people," said PoCo spokesperson Ximena Ibacache in a release.

She added Pride in Port Coquitlam is one of the most highly anticipated gatherings on the calendar each year as it reflects the goals set by the city's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Roundtable.

Mayor Brad West created the EDI committee in 2020 to help develop equitable policies for the city.

Live from Lions Park

Pride in PoCo is scheduled to take place from 2 to 5 p.m. in Lions Park with the following performers on the marquee:

In that same span, visitors will be able to learn more about local organizations and services for all Port Coquitlam residents.
