The World of Love Multicultural Festival, which includes a lantern show, is coming to Coquitlam over the Labour Day long weekend, Sept. 4 and 5, 2022.

Town Centre Park will be filled with colourful displays this long weekend.

The World of Love Multicultural Carnival is set to close out the summer in Coquitlam with a celebration of foods, art and lights tomorrow and Monday (Sept. 4-5).

The free event is organized by the North America Chinese Culture Promotion Society.

It's meant to showcase the diversity of the Tri-Cities and Metro Vancouver regions with more than 250 performers and vendors.

As well, a Chinese lantern show will light up the park with eye-catching characters that range from bold dragons to graceful swans.

The animal-themed displays are features of the Qinhuai River style lanterns that originate from Nanjing, China, and are set to provide interested guests with plenty of photo ops.

Among the arts and crafts during World of Love include lantern making, face painting, paper cutting, tea making and calligraphy.

As well, residents can have a crack at sugar painting — a form of traditional Chinese folk art using hot, liquid sugar to create two dimensional objects.

The multicultural carnival is slated for tomorrow (Sept. 4) from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Monday (Sept. 5) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
