Coquitlam foodies that planned to order in tonight (Feb. 25) may have to knuckle under and cook for themselves.

DoorDash is set to temporarily suspend operations in the Tri-Cities municipality Saturday evening as between 15 and 35 cm of the heavy stuff is expected for the region.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning on Friday (Feb. 24).

Conditions are set to drop temperatures to as low as -10°C with the wind chill, which could lead to icy roads for DoorDash drivers and couriers.

The food delivery agency has activated a "severe weather protocol" that'll pause service between tonight and "at least" tomorrow morning (Feb. 26).

"The safety of our community is our top priority," said DoorDash spokesperson Julian Crowley in a news release.

"We want to thank the affected Dashers, merchants and customers for their understanding during these incredibly difficult conditions and will resume operations when it is safe to do so."

DoorDash said it'll be closely monitoring conditions on the ground and guidance from local authorities before service begins again.

Coquitlam is one of 21 communities listed on DoorDash's statement.
