Updated: Four Coquitlam area schools hit with multiple dates of COVID-19 exposure

A few Tri-City schools continue to grapple with COVID-19 exposures, but overall school exposures are down as vaccinations ramp-up across Fraser Health.

Three schools in Coquitlam and one in Port Coquitlam are the latest to be flagged for COVID-19 exposures but overall schools with reported cases are down dramatically.

Among the hardest hit are Centennial Secondary and Rochester Elementary, with multiple dates over two weeks, with exposures as recent as last Thursday (June 17).

Cape Horn had an exposure on two days last week.

Meanwhile, Kilmer Elementary in Port Coquitlam was also recently added with four dates last week.

Still, the numbers are down compared to earlier this spring when there was a surge in cases in the Tri-Cities.

Seven schools are currently listed on the Fraser Health school exposure website as having exposures in the last 14 days, all but one of them in Coquitlam.

Here’s the current list to Monday (June 21).

Coquitlam

  • Cape Horn Elementary: June 16, 17
  • Centennial Secondary: June 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17
  • Dr. Charles Best Secondary: June 11
  • Rochester Elementary: June 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17

Port Coquitlam

  • Riverside Secondary: June 9, 10, 11
  • Kilmer Elementary: June 15, 16, 17, 18

No cases are reported for Port Moody schools at this time.

In September, schools can expect a return to in-class instruction. Students will no longer be divided into cohorts or learning groups, as they are this year.

Guidance on masks will be confirmed later this summer, according to health officials.
