Karaoke Night

Almost Famous Entertainment hosts an open karaoke night at the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Port Coquitlam (2675 Shaughnessy St.) starting at 6:30 p.m. Membership is not required; however, entry is $2.

Art Reception

Meet the artists behind three new exhibitions opening this month at Place des Arts in Coquitlam (1120 Brunette Ave.): Your Art, Your Reflections: Multiculturalism, Diversity and Anti-Racism by the Asian Impact Society; Creative Connections by SD43 art teachers; and All My Relations curated by Christine Mackenzie. The launch starts at 7 p.m.

Legion Music

Long Run performs at the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Coquitlam (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) at 7 p.m. A cover charge is applied to non-members; however, there is no entry fee on Saturday nights.

Singer–songwriter Joan Bessie plays soulful rock anthems with her band as part of the Music in the Square performance by Coquitlam Heritage. The free all-ages show from 7 to 8:30 p.m. is Mackin House (1116 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam).

WHL Action

See the WHL Vancouver Giants face off against the Prince George Cougars at an exhibition hockey game at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.) at 7 p.m. Tickets are $16.

Ready, hike

The Centennial Centaurs host Holy Cross in preseason senior high school football at Centennial's new turf field (Winslow Avenue and Poirier Street). The Centaurs are coming off a 21-14 win over Mt. Boucherie in their exhbition opener last Friday. Game time is 6 p.m.

Movie Buffs

Penelope Cruz, Javier Barden and Ricardo Darin star in the flick Everybody Knows that will be screened by the Port Moody Film Society at the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Dr., Port Moody) at 7:30 p.m. The story is about a Spanish woman living in Buenos Aires who returns home to near Madrid with her two children for her sister’s wedding. The drama/crime/mystery is rated R and runs 2:13 minutes. Admission is $5 plus a $5 annual society membership.
