Two Tri-Cities residents will appear in a Cole Porter show that marks the 26th year of APPLAUSE! Musicals in Concert.
Coquitlam’s Wilson Fowlie and Brenda Katzeff of Port Coquitlam are part of the cast of Out of this World, a musical that opened on Broadway in 1950 and follows Cole’s Kiss Me Kate.
The concert presentation of the musical runs at the PAL Theatre in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour from Aug. 25 to 27.
Fowlie, who recently retired as a show choir director, plays Mars and a Greek mortal, while Katzeff, who trained at Coquitlam’s Place des Arts, portrays Venus and a Greek mortal.
An adaptation of the Greek comedy Amphitryon by Platus, Out of this World revolves the god Jupiter who seeks to seduce a mortal woman in modern-day Greece.
But things go off the rails when Jupiter involves his family in his pursuit.
Porter is best known for the score of Anything Goes.
Over the years, APPLAUSE! has produced two of his shows: Fifty Million Frenchmen and Jubilee.
Besides Fowlie and Katzeff, the Out of this World cast includes:
- Kathleen Doerkson
- Cecilia Federizon
