The Editor, I drive a lot as part of my work and I've noticed a significant number of Alberta licence plates in and around the Lower Mainland this past year.

We have had so many warnings of the Big One — the massive earthquake that is going to strike Vancouver Island one of these days, maybe tomorrow, or maybe in 500 years — that we tend to ignore the reports of earthquakes elsewhere.

Institutions fall quickly these days. The New Democratic Party would be well advised to understand that as it staggers almost helplessly into this federal election. Time appears to have passed it by. It is rudderless and rapidly aging out.

The Editor, We have banked at Westminster Savings Credit Union for the better part of 30 years. My children have also banked at Westminster. We have a great relationship with the staff and they have been more than helpful in many instances.

You’ve heard of urban legends, right? Like the lady who had a spider bite that turned into a nest of eggs that hatched under her skin, or the tale of the kid that died from drinking cola after swallowing Pop Rocks.

The Editor, I live across the street from a section of the Traboulay PoCo Trail. I have a plain view of all the action. I frequent the trail myself, walking and cycling. My issue is people using the bushes as an outdoor toilet.

You want good schools? Pay professionals the wages they deserve, and don't cheap out on class size and composition, either — valuing public education will pay off in the long term

The Editor, Why, we wonder, did FortisBC find it necessary to hire Michels, an Alberta-based contractor, to totally mess up traffic and ruin Como Lake Avenue's recently re-paved surface? Do we not have contractors in B.C. capable of the job? p.

The Editor, Re. “Labour costs up 3.6% in Coquitlam for 2018” (The Tri-City News, June 27).

The arguments for keeping this longstanding arrangement — that there has been little complaint until now and the event is good for local trade — have been specious as best.
