Letter: Port Moody development needs covered bridge for pedestrians

Re: Redevelopment plan going to public hearing, News
The artist's rendering that illustrated this article showed a Jetsons-style pedestrian bridge over IOCO Road connecting the Coronation Park redevelopment to the Inlet Centre rapid transit station.
It rains a lot on the West Coast. It is not nice to walk on a cold, wet night from Port Moody's library and recreation centre to the Inlet Centre rapid transit station. Vehicles swoop around the intersections that cut up the sidewalks.
So I applaud the proposal to provide a pedestrian overpass to make it easier for everyone, including people using mobility scooters and parents pushing strollers, to get around. A bonus would be a covered bridge to shield pedestrians from the weather.
A covered pedestrian overpass would be good for the new businesses located in the retail and other “job spaces” in the redevelopment.
