The Editor:
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the children and adults that leave painted rocks throughout the forest trails in the Tri-Cities.
I lost my job in tourism with a sightseeing company that I had been with since 1992, so the many changes and fears I have had to face have been quite unnerving.
To keep it together, one of my routines is to walk the trails to get my soothing forest bath a few times a day. It has become a nicely distracting treasure hunt as I watch for multi-coloured rocks with beautiful designs, pictures and uplifting messages.
This may feel like a small gesture in the world right now but I look forward and get much delight at the creativity and kindness in each discovery. I post my favourite rock every day to a shared social media group so my unemployed co-workers who do not live near forests can get the boost that I do.
The positive notes written on the rocks give us the encouragement we need in these tough times. Keep up the painting and thank you!
