Free movies. Cheap popcorn.

It appears Cineplex has brought four of the greatest words in history together for a special fundraising campaign that's set to improve programming for kids in need of after-school and mentorship supports.

The 10th annual Community Day at Cineplex is set to take place Saturday morning (Nov. 19) at its Coquitlam theatre — located at 170 Schoolhouse St.

Interested movie-goers can see one of four select family-friendly films at no charge and everything at the concession stand is set to cost only $2.50, including popcorn, candy and drinks.

Cineplex explained $1 from each order, as well as from XSCAPE arcade playcard sales that day, will be donated to BGC Canada, formerly known as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.

All funds raised from 155 Cineplex theatres are set to support empowerment programs and services to more than 200,000 youth in nearly 800 communities from coast to coast.

According to its website, the Canada-wide chain said showtimes are between 9 and 11 a.m., and tickets will be limited on a first-come, first-serve basis the morning of the event.

Movies set to take the big screens in Coquitlam are as follows (in alphabetical order):

  • Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank
  • Sonic The Hedgehog 2
  • The Lost City
  • The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run
