A Port Coquitlam woman is giving back to local mothers and hopes to capture one of their photogenic smiles.

And photographer Cheryl Kathler is hoping the public can help find the most deserving mom or mother figure.

Kathler is set to host a special photo-op session on or around Mother's Day as part of a way to support the local community the way its supported her for the last 20 years.

"I've been fortunate to capture special moments for families in Port Coquitlam, and I'm looking forward to giving one lucky winner the opportunity to capture their own special moment with their loved ones," she said in a statement to the Tri-City News.

The Photos by Cheryl owner has specialized in family, wedding, newborn and branding photography since starting her business.

According to her profile, she's won four straight awards as "best photographer in Port Coquitlam."

Kathler said the contest is set to offer a free one-of-a-kind photo session at her outdoor studio, which features woodstone cottage, and the best eight images will be given to the winner.

Interested residents are encouraged to submit a story entitled My Mom is the Best, describing what the mother in their lives has meant to them and why they are deserving of the photo shoot.

"Mom does not need to be your own biological mother. Any woman or those identifying as a woman can be nominated," the contest terms and conditions stated.

The nomination submission deadline is set for 11:59 p.m. on April 30.

Kathler is slated to draw the winner on May 5.
