Coquitlam Coun. Matt Djonlic, along side his furry friend, enjoys a holiday concoction of his own making.

The Christmas season is about family, friends and fellowship. It’s also about food — from grand feasts of turkey and stuffing to boundless snacks stretching our belts.

In the spirit of the holidays, the Tri-City News recently asked some of the people you read about to share their favourite must-try recipes.

There’s something about a rich warm drink after being out in the cold that just puts someone in the festive spirit.

Hot chocolate and a splash of Bailey’s does just that.

Ingredients/Directions

  • 250 ml hot water
  • 33 g of rich hot chocolate mix
  • One or two (1-2) shot glasses of Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • Whipped cream on top

Grated dark chocolate to top it off for a warm holiday drink. Having a cat also adds to the coziness.

Matt Djonlic is a first-term councillor with the City of Coquitlam, and was elected in October this year.
