Arjun Purewal was last seen in Port Coquitlam on Aug. 26, 2022, and is wanted by RCMP for breaching his release order.

A wanted man that was last seen in Port Coquitlam was arrested this week.

According to RCMP, Arjun Purewal was found on Tuesday (Sept. 20) while officers with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) searched a Surrey home in relation to a Richmond homicide from 2021.

On Aug. 26, Coquitlam Mounties issued a Canada-wide warrant for the 25-year-old suspect after BC Corrections alerted the local detachment of his absence.

It was determined Purewal had illegally removed an ankle monitor, spokesperson Cpl. Alexa Hodgins explained in a news release today (Sept. 22).

He was waiting to hear his sentence stemming from a Richmond kidnapping incident in September last year, she said, and had been investigated by Vancouver police.

Purewal is set to remain in IHIT's custody pending his next court appearance scheduled for Nov. 8, according to BC online court services.

Prior to his arrest, RCMP believed Purewal's last known sighting was in Port Coquitlam's industrial area near the intersection of Kebet Way and Coast Meridian Road.
