Three Coquitlam councillors to chair six committees in 2024

Three elected officials in Coquitlam will chair two advisory committees each in the new year.

Yesterday, Nov. 6, council voted for Coun. Steve Kim to lead the city’s economic development and cultural services committees, and ratified Coun. Robert Mazzarolo as chair of the city’s multiculturalism and environmental committees in 2024.

Council also approved Coun. Matt Djonlic as chair of the city’s sports and recreation committee, plus the accessibility committee.

Coun. Teri Towner will take the reins of the community safety advisory committee next year from Coun. Craig Hodge, who will stay on as vice chair.

As for statutory committees, Djonlic will remain as the council liaison for the Coquitlam Public Library Board; he also chairs the Parcel Tax Review Panel, with Mazzarolo and Towner at the table.

For external bodies, Coquitlam will be represented by the following civic politicians:

  • Fraser Health Municipality Government Advisory Council: Coun. Dennis Marsden
  • Joint Policing Committee (with Port Coquitlam): Mayor Richard Stewart
  • SD43 Mental Health Task Force: Coun. Teri Towner
  • Tri-Cities Food Council: Coun. Robert Mazzarolo
  • Tri-Cities Healthier Communities Partnership: Coun. Dennis Marsden
  • Tri-Cities Homelessness and Housing Task Group: Coun. Matt Djonlic
