Catch the Coquitlam Express hockey team on home ice for a game against the Chilliwack Chiefs. The puck drops at noon at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.).

Be part of an online presentation from the Coquitlam Public Library and the WorkBC Centre to learn how to answer job interview questions. A career advisor will be on hand to guide participants via Zoom from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

ART’S BIRTHDAY 2.0

You can paint blindfolded while listening to music, take part in a community dance and sample cakes at Site B Brewery in Port Moody (3012 Murray St.) to celebrate the birthday of "ART." The event — rescheduled by PoMoArts from Jan. 17 due to the snow storm — marks the day that Fluxus artist Robert Filliou declared Jan. 17 as the day “ART” was born. The all-ages bash runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and features ARTCakes from Tri-City bakeries Cassandra Cake Co., Doceria Da Maria Cake Factory and Pely’s Gluten Free Bakery. There will also be music fro DJ 24 and dancing.

VOICESTORY

Make new friends and learn social skills at the VoiceStory: Conversation and Connection session at the City Centre branch of the Coquitlam Public Library (1169 Pinetree Way). From 6:30 to 8 p.m., participants will be able to practise their conversational skills with a stranger. Tonight’s meeting focuses on how to be an effective communicator; light refreshments will be served. The event is in partnership with Low Entropy and is suitable for ages 16 and older.

Sing some familiar tunes with friends at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 263 (1025 Ridgeway Ave., Coquitlam). The karaoke mic is open from 7 to 10 p.m.

MINERS TRAPPED

Beneath Springhill: The Maurice Ruddick Story is a play about Maurice Ruddick who served as a lifeline to his fellow miners during nine days in 1958 while they were trapped 4,000 ft. underground. Created by Beau Dixon, with music and lyrics by Rob Fortin and Susan Newman, the one-man show runs from Jan. 23 to 27 at 7:30 p.m. (with a matinee on Jan. 27) at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way). Tickets are $50/$42/$16.
