The top vote getter for Coquitlam city council in 2014 will seek a third term in the Oct. 20 municipal election.

Craig Hodge, who had nearly 1,800 more votes than anyone else, has declared his candidacy.

He was first elected in 2011 when he was the second top vote getter.

Hodge, who is chair of the city's sports council, is pledging to improve the variety of affordable housing choices.

"Coquitlam is growing rapidly and we must accommodate this demand for housing while respecting current residents and preserving the character of their neighbourhood," said Hodge in a press release.
