A cluster of cases has been confimed at Scott Creek middle school in Coquitlam that had five days with COVID-19 exposures in February, including on Feb. 17, 18 19 according to a letter to parents.

A cluster of cases at a Coquitlam middle school has been confirmed as schools in the region continue to be flagged for COVID-19 in recent days.

Scott Creek middle school has been confirmed as having a cluster, in which there was transmission between between two or more individuals with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 at the school within a 14-day period, according to Fraser Health.

In addition, a class was asked to isolate for 14 days.

Scott Creek was among the hardest hit schools in School District 43 in recent days with multiple dates of confirmed exposures through to Feb. 19.

With today as a professional day, students aren’t expected back to class until Monday, March 1.

Meanwhile, a Port Coquitlam middle school has recently been flagged as having someone on school grounds testing positive for COVID-19. The dates they were at the school were Feb. 17, 18, 19, according to a letter and posted to the BC School Covid Tracker.

As well, Fraser Health has confirmed a case on Feb. 16 at the Children of Integrity Montessori, independent school, in Coquitlam.

Meanwhile, Gleneagle secondary has been flagged for COVID-19 exposures on multiple dates, including Feb. 19.

The cases come as Dr. Bonnie Henry calls for continued efforts to stick to COVID-19 restrictions on social gatherings and travel, including planning to stay local during the upcoming spring break, slated to take place March March 22-Apr. 1.

In the Tri-Cities, cases have remained high, according to BC Centre of Disease Control data. However, the case counts appear to be stabilizing at 269 Feb. 7-13, and 272 Feb. 14-20.
