The Editor, After receiving a petition against higher density in Coronation Park signed by the majority of homeowners, Port Moody council voted to keep Coronation Park designated as single family homes.

The Editor, I think it's time our MLAs, etc. get the government to change the law regarding leaving the scene of an accident. Lots of people do this and not a lot happens to them, maybe a small fine. They all use the same excuse: "I was scared.

The Editor, Re. "Let's stand up for les Quebecois" (Face to Face, The Tri-City News, Sept. 20). Face to Face columnist Andy Radia, like far too many Canadians, doesn't seem to know what francophone means.

Anumber of interesting motions and discussions arose from last week's annual Union of BC Municipalities convention, including a proposal calling for extending terms of office for mayors and city councillors from three years to four. Bring it on.

The Editor, Re. "Cops look into tips from video" (The Tri-City News, Sept. 18). First, I would like to convey my sympathy to the family and friends who tragically lost their loved one to a hit-and-run driver. Such a cowardly act.

T he Quebec government has finally introduced details of its so-called values charter. If the legislation ever passes, all public employees in that province would be barred from wearing overt religious symbols in public institutions.

As a kid, I recall watching my dad swimming and floating on his back in the water. It was like an amazing magic trick. It seemed he could do it as long as he liked, just float there, gazing up at the sky. I would try and try but sink like a stone.

The Editor, Re. "Second meeting needed for OCP draft discussion" (The Tri-City News, Sept. 13). "Disappointing" would be a kind description for the draft official community plan presented at last week's Port Moody council meeting.

S ure, Quebec Premier Pauline Marois' proposed ban on religious garb and symbols is an electoral stunt.

Can a homeless shelter ever be squeaky clean, guaranteed not to offend someone? That's a question that could be raised after the closure of a temporary church-based homeless shelter that has helped hundreds of people get off the street.
